Thank you for caring for community cats! We currently provide Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR) services in the following areas: Hixson, Lakesite, Red Bank, East Brainerd, Brainerd, and East Ridge. If you are requesting assistance outside of these areas, please refer to our Support Page for additional TNR resources.

Please note, there is currently a waiting list for TNR assistance and we will do our best to get back to you as soon as we are able.

The ‘R’ in TNR stands for ‘return.’ Any cat that is trapped, will be returned after they have been spayed or neutered, ear-tipped and received rabies and FVRCP vaccines. We do not relocate community cats as it is inhumane and doesn’t reduce the number of cats in the area. Please read about the vacuum effect here.

Our TNR services are provided free of charge, thanks to the generosity of our community. We rely 100% on donations to continue our efforts. The average cost to TNR one cat is $35, not including the ongoing cost of cat food, traps, gas, supplies and the time our volunteers dedicate.

By borrowing traps from SCRATCH for trapping, you agree to be fully responsible for their care. This includes ensuring the traps are stored in a secure location to prevent theft, and agreeing to replace any traps that are damaged or stolen while in your possession.

Are you able to help overnight the cats once they have been trapped?

Are you able to help transport the cats to/from the TNR clinic once they have been trapped?

Do you agree that all feral/community cats will be returned to their original location after TNR services. If not, this will result in no TNR services being provided.

RELEASE OF LIABILITY

I agree with these statements as evidenced by my signature.

I understand the risks feral cats face during handling, anesthesia, and surgery and agree to hold harmless SCRATCH, Inc., Board of Directors, Staff and Volunteers, Veterinarian, and Veterinary Staff, should a cat experience complications, injury, escape, or death. Any cat deemed by a veterinarian to be severely ill or injured or tests positive for FeLV will be humanely euthanized without prior notification to the caretaker. All pregnant cats will be spayed. All feral cats will be returned to the location where they were trapped.

I understand the risks involved with helping SCRATCH, Inc. trap, transport, or overnight feral cats and agree to hold harmless SCRATCH, Inc., Board of Directors, Staff and Volunteers, Veterinarian, and Veterinary Staff should I or any person directed by me, experience any injury during the trapping, transporting, or overnighting of the feral cats as evidenced by my signature below.
